Desert Sun, a daily newspaper serving Palm Springs and the surrounding Coachella Valley in Southern California, reports Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez is in discussions with Goldenvoice to collaborate on creating a mass vaccination site, saying the promoter is “willing to be helpful and supportive”.

“We know what they can do with the concerts, all the logistics and planning that takes place,” said Perez during a Board of Supervisors meeting on Wednesday.

Darin Schemmer, communications director for Perez, suggested the 500-acre El Dorado Polo Club, which is leased by Goldenvoice, could be used as a possible location.

Riverside County Public Health director Kim Saruwatari said the county “will take support from anyone who has some expertise to lend … They certainly do, so we absolutely will be in touch with them to see.”

Locations already transformed into mass vaccination sites in California include the baseball ground Dodger Stadium and Disneyland.

California has recorded a total of 3.21 million coronavirus cases and 37,499 deaths across the length of the pandemic so far.
